Milt McColl joined New Leaf as a Venture Partner in April 2007 from the Boston Scientific Corporation. Milt had joined BSC in 2001 when BSC acquired Embolic Protection Inc., where Milt had served as VP and General Manager. He was asked to stay on as VP of that unit and was subsequently promoted to President of the Neurovascular Protection Division, the position he held until joining New Leaf. Prior to his appointment as Vice President and General Manager, he was Vice President of Clinical, Regulatory and Quality Affairs and Medical Director of Embolic Protection, where he designed, implemented and successfully completed the FIRE Clinical trial (the pivotal trial to establish the safety and efficacy of the FilterWire EX™ Embolic Protection Device during balloon angioplasty or stenting procedures in the treatment of saphenous vein grafts). Previously, Milt was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Genitope, Inc. a biotechnology company focusing on patient-specific therapies for lymphoma. Before joining Genitope, Milt was President and Chief Executive Officer of CSFluids, Inc. (later renamed Eunio), a development-stage company offering a surgical treatment for Alzheimer's Disease. Earlier he was Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, Quality Affairs, Clinical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer for Gynecare, Inc. and Director of Marketing of Origin Medsystems.
Milt began his career as a professional football player with the San Francisco Forty Niners, co-captain of 2 Super Bowl Champion teams and Los Angeles Raiders from 1981 to 1989.
Milt earned a B.S. in biology from Stanford University and his M.D. from Stanford University School of Medicine.
