TigerText Provides Integrated, Secure Communication Network for Hartford HealthCare and UConn’s School of Medicine Residency Program

Hartford HealthCare and the University of Connecticut’s School of Medicine Residency rely on TigerText to stay HIPAA-complaint, coordinate care, and facilitate secure communication between its staff and resident physicians across five major health care facilities.

SANTA MONICA, CA (September 24, 2013) – TigerText, the leader in secure, real-time messaging for the enterprise, today announced that it has added Hartford HealthCare, the premiere health care network in Connecticut with more than 16,000 employees, as well as the University of Connecticut’s School of Medicine Residency Program to its growing client roster. With these customer wins, TigerText now provides Residents in the University of Connecticut’s School of Medicine with a connected and integrated communication network across the hospitals and institutions in which they’re pursuing their medical education.
As the major teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Connecticut Medical School, Hartford HealthCare is deploying TigerText’s secure messaging app across Hartford Hospital, Hospital of Central Connecticut, MidState Medical, Windham Hospital and the Hartford HealthCare Medical Group in an effort to streamline communication among staff, improve clinical workflow and provide more efficient care to patients.
“Hartford HealthCare is committed to bringing the industry leading services to both our patients and our physician staff,” said Dr. Rocco Orlando, Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Hartford HealthCare. “With TigerText, our physicians are now able to communicate patient information in a secure and protected environment across all of our organizations, enabling us to provide consistent, high quality care.”
The University of Connecticut School of Medicine Residency Programs are also set to deploy TigerText. With communication platforms disconnected and disjointed across multiple healthcare arenas, TigerText will now enable UConn Residents to seamlessly communicate protected health information (PHI) with Hartford HealthCare staff while also allowing them to provide fast and efficient patient care across a single, unified communication network.
“Our Residents work across many of Connecticut’s Hospitals and medical facilities while completing their residency training,” said Dr. Kiki Nissen, Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. “TigerText offers us a flexible network solution that is able to easily deploy wherever our Residents practice medicine. And now, they’re protected with a secure communication platform, regardless of the facility they’re assigned.”
“We’re thrilled to have the University of Connecticut School of Medicine Residency programs and one of the most recognized health networks, Hartford Healthcare, rely on TigerText for their secure messaging needs,” said Brad Brooks, TigerText co-founder and CEO. “TigerText solves communication needs for expanded unified health care networks like Hartford as it allows providers to connect and communicate with staff across their entire network rather than being forced into multiple, siloed networks. By providing Hartford HealthCare and UConn’s School of Medicine Residents with a federated communication network, we’re helping them achieve better compliance and care coordination, all while reducing costs.”
